Vegas Baby

My cousins David and Kate were getting married and they chose Las Vegas for the place to do it.
THEY ARE SO AWESOME FOR THAT!!!
It was a whirlwind of 4 days consisting of drinking, gambling, dancing and of course LOVE!

All of our family was there to celebrate these two lovely people.
Here are some of my favorite moments.

Gram and I worked SO hard on my dress I wore to the wedding.
I love Gram so much, and I am blessed to have her in my life.
And Sar....she is a pretty awesome person and even better sister.
We had a blast together.

 Fordney Family...pretty normal. Clearly.

These are horrible cell phone pictures,
but I love them.
David was going to loose it as Kate walked down the isle.
It was one of the sweetest most innocent moments I have witnessed.
You know that movie 27 Dresses?
I too look at the groom when the bride makes her grand entrance.

Put your hands together for the newly weds!!
Mr. & Mrs. Fordney!!!!!

Yup....mini cupcakes.
Enough said there.

We shared a photo like this one at Alex's wedding.
It is one of my favorite in the whole world.
I sure miss these guys.
Alex and his beautiful wife Rebecca and cute baby bob Jonah live in Tennessee,
and David with his new lovely wife Kate live in New Jersey.

Wedding shenanigans!
Uncle Mike "borrowed" my sunglasses while in the restroom.
Mom snapped a picture of him and said
"I'll save this for a rainy day" hahahaa
I just got the picture in a text message this last weekend.

No biggie,
wedding attire at Burger King.

Also on a random note.
Sarah LOVES Celine Dion.
I know right??!!
Hilarious....anyway, we went to her show.
Sarah was like a little kid in a candy store.
It was so fun to watch her and have such an amazing time.

We were seated in a box,
totally awesome by the way.
We danced the whole time!!
I didn't know I was so familiar with Celine Dion songs haha
I had a great time,
and so did my family.

Waiting nervously for the show to start.

In all we had a blast in Vegas.
I don't want to go back for a long time haha
It was tiring,
I'll never get that $60 I gambled away,
and my suit case came home smelling of smoke.
But I will always remember this family trip,
how much fun I had and the love that was celebrated!!

First Fitting

If I'm not mistaken all weddings have inspiration,
here is the dress inspiration.
Thanks David's Bridal haha

SOOO....since the last time we met,
Gram Honey has been busy!

She completely took the top half of the dress apart to take off the
"yucky" (the outdated poofy sleeves and turtle neck) as Miss Steph likes to call it :)

The orange fabric represents the new added piece.
Complete with sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves.
Once finished it will be a beautiful lace overlay.

The back of the dress has an elegant cutout,
perfect for Steph!

You can kind of get the idea of the whole dress.
It is hard to look past that orange fabric,
but trust....it's going to be FABULOUS!!!

I'll keep you posted through out the construction,
or rather deconstruction of the dress.

In a few short weeks,
it will be ready to wear come

This news is so exciting...and lets be real, who doesn't love a good wedding???!
As soon as I got the text I couldn't do anything but get a goofy grin on my face and think how wonderful life is!

Next step, I sent Miss Bunny {soon to be Mrs. Bunny} a text proclaiming my excitement for them and that if I could help with anything PLEASE let me know. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE weddings??  (You know the movie The Wedding Planner with J.Lo?  That's me in a nut shell.)

She had mentioned to me that she needed a great seamstress for an affordable price.
My eye-brows went up and I said
"ME, ME, ME!! PICK ME!!"
My Gram and I are sewing regularly together, she is teaching me her ways :)
Miss Bunny wants to use her Mom's wedding dress, cut it up and change it to something that fits to more her style.  Because I know the Groom-to-Be doesn't read my blog I have confidence that I can post these photos at the risk of him not seeing them.

Making A House, A Home

When I moved into my house a year ago, I noticed it was missing something.  It wasn't something I didn't REALLY want until Christmas came.  It was a fireplace to hang the stockings from.  None the less, we made due and hung them on the wall.

It never really sat well with me.  If there is one thing you know about me is that I am a Christmas nut and that you don't monkey with tradition.  So I had the grand idea to build my own fireplace.  And of course I wasn't going to make it a permanent fixture.  Just something pretty and functional with a hint of personality.

I got the supplies from my Mom and Gram's houses.  I picked out an awesome plum-purple to paint it and the rest is history.  20 hours of hard work out in the garage I managed to finish and couldn't have been more pleased with the end product.

Transforming it from bland to AWESOME,

The mantel is stained and ready to be added!

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

Sewing With My Grammy

I have recently taken up sewing.
I have forgotten how much I really enjoy it!

My Gram is teaching me everything
I should ever know about sewing.

It's so amazing to spend the
time with her, and learn all the
skills and steps it takes to
create something from start to end.

My Papa made this pin dish for my Grammy, I have one too!
It's this little things that makes the finish product, that much more special.

TOP 5 THINGS TO KNOW WHEN SEWING WITH GRAM

1)  Ironing is something that my Gram is very keen on.
2)  Go slow...even if you have to go so slow you might as well be going backward!
3)  Measure twice, or 40 times....cut once!
4)  Patterns have their own language and are sometimes REALLY dumb!!!
5)  The ripper is a gals best friend...you will use it a lot!

Gram is hard at work :)

The finished product!
Beautiful, custom tea towels for my kitchen.
